Our puppies are handled frequently from birth. From the outset, they are treated as family members.
At day 3, from birth, we start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises and Early Scent Introduction (ESI). At this time, the puppy’s brains are quickly developing.
ENS strategy was developed to train military dogs. The findings of these studies have been freely shared with the dog world. Dogs trained using this method have been found to have improved stress response, making the dog more resilient and adaptable. It enhances socialization skills and helps make puppies more comfortable with life’s stressors. It boosts cognitive function. Puppies introduced to this tend to be more intelligent and it helps them learn commands faster. It promotes physical health by enhancing coordination and balance and overall physical health. It helps them be more robust against illnesses. And perhaps most importantly, it improves temperament and confidence.
ESI training helps puppies strengthen neural pathways relating to scent and processing. It boosts confidence and curiosity, it improves problem solving, with better engagement and focus. It helps puppies respond to unknown situations more calmly as adults. From day 3-16, puppies are introduced to various scents, and the puppy chooses whether or not to engage.
ENS and ESI target different systems (neurological vs. sensory), with ENS focusing on neurological development and stress response, and ESI focuses on sensory development, especially scent.
At 3 weeks old, our puppies begin potty training by using a litter box with alfalfa and/or pine pellets and come to you ready to complete their training.
Our puppies are crate trained, though they do not spend a lot of time in crates.
Our puppies come to you having been sensitized to many things they will encounter in their lives with you. All kinds of life’s noises have been introduced to the puppies like thunder, trains, animal noises, babies crying, fire & police trucks, vacuums, hair dryers. They have met other dogs, met many people, seen people with wheelchairs and crutches and walkers, funny hats.
We also work to help ensure your puppy has great gut biomes by using various foods like raw hamburger, potatoes, banana, blueberry kefir, sauerkraut, egg yolk, apple, chicken.
We daily play classical music which has been shown to improve calmness and helps with mental development.
